View of Scripture = View of Preaching?

This is a conversation between Mark Driscoll (Pastor at Mars Hill in Seattle) and John Piper (Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist in Minneapolis). I thought it tied in nicely with our discussion on the Doctrine of the Scriptures. They also link a correlation bewteen one's view of Scripture with their view of preaching. What do you think? I agree wholeheartedly with Mark's comments on this segment. As Pastors/Teachers we are assigned by God in Scripture to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. I can think of nothing of greater importance in the equipping process than teaching the Word of God.

I think (if I'm being fair) that Piper's Comment at the end seems to be out of context. The one about foolishness. I wonder if it fit the context of his earlier comments and Driscolls or if it was simply placed there for dramatic effect.

Good stuff.

Driscoll's 5 part sermon series on preaching and Teaching Jesus on the Resurgence website is where most if not all of these quotes came from. It's Most worthy of a listen.

Whether it is in "context" or not it certainly applies! There are a lot of Pastors being foolish with the Scriptures and the preaching of the Gospel.
